OC EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE

EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM for ORANGE COUNTY RENTERS The County of Orange will offer rental households, up to $10,000 in financial assistance for unpaid rent or utility bills due to the impact of COVID-19. Applications are being accepted from February 1 through February 28, 2021. Household annual income must be at or below 80% Area Median Income. For more information, and to apply: visit www.ERA.211OC.org, text ERA to 898211, or call 2-1-1. Note: rental households in the cities of Anaheim, Santa Ana, and Irvine are ineligible for this County program, as those cities provide their own rental assistance programs.

Low & Moderate Income Rent Program

The Community Development Department has provided financial assistance to many housing developments in Brea in order to establish rent-restricted programs.

Applications are accepted on a continuous basis, but programs are not first-come, first-served. New applicants are placed on a waiting list which is prioritized based on a point system. An applicant's place on the waiting list is dependent upon accumulated points, which are awarded in various categories such as: Brea residency, Brea employment, military service, disability, etc.

The City maintains the waiting lists for the apartment complexes named in the rent tables. The tables explain the maximum allowable incomes and current rents at each of the participating complexes. Although no minimum incomes are listed, if your income is too low you may not be eligible to rent a particular unit. Most apartments require a monthly income of 2-3 times the amount of the rent.

We are unable to estimate how long you will be waiting for a unit, as it depends where you are on the waiting list when an opening becomes available. The system requires you to periodically update your account, failing to do this will result in your account being closed. Our policy is that we do not reactivate closed accounts.

THERE ARE NO OPENINGS UNTIL A TENANT WHO IS PARTICIPATING IN A PROGRAM MOVES OUT.
