Low & Moderate Income Rent Program
The Community Development Department has provided financial assistance to many housing developments in Brea in order to establish rent-restricted programs.
Applications are accepted on a continuous basis, but programs are not first-come, first-served. New applicants are placed on a waiting list which is prioritized based on a point system. An applicant's place on the waiting list is dependent upon accumulated points, which are awarded in various categories such as: Brea residency, Brea employment, military service, disability, etc.
The City maintains the waiting lists for the apartment complexes named in the rent tables. The tables explain the maximum allowable incomes and current rents at each of the participating complexes. Although no minimum incomes are listed, if your income is too low you may not be eligible to rent a particular unit. Most apartments require a monthly income of 2-3 times the amount of the rent.
We are unable to estimate how long you will be waiting for a unit, as it depends where you are on the waiting list when an opening becomes available. The system requires you to periodically update your account, failing to do this will result in your account being closed. Our policy is that we do not reactivate closed accounts.THERE ARE NO OPENINGS UNTIL A TENANT WHO IS PARTICIPATING IN A PROGRAM MOVES OUT.
